The Kitchen and The Self 2026

The Kitchen and the Self is a research and creation project that approaches the kitchen as an extension of the self. Through text, body, video and sound, it reflects on everyday acts of eating and making while engaging with questions of ecology, gender, postcolonialism and ecofeminism. The process unfolds between India and Switzerland in 2026, leading to a performance composition in 2027.

A co-creation project by artists Manmeet Devgun, a Delhi-based multidisciplinary artist exploring womanhood, domestic intimacies and the body as a site of memory and resistance, and Heike Fiedler, a poet and performer working with audio-visual compositions and language to question dominant structures.

The first in the collaborative series was performed at FICA,Reading Room,New Delhi.

The project is supported by the Swiss Arts Council-ProHelvetia under the co-creation grant 2025.

The Mother’s Studio - 2019

The project was an attempt to forge connections, create a space of understanding, knowing, sharing. It was intended as an open studio space, where the space was utilised to create connections/understandings by means of workshops, poetry readings, and performances. It was part exhibition and part living lab by a group of nine single mothers, brought together. Seven from India, one from Basel(Switzerland) and one from Brisbane(Australia). The display included a narrative table,of snippets of the journey of being a single mother by each participant. And artworks created by most of them despite not being artists(no formal training in art). There were workshops for kids and adults. Spoken text, open mic and feminist readings of artworks. The project concluded with a collective performance which emerged from the discussions made during the two day display/workshops and affecting us each in some form. (part of Five Million Incidents, curated by Raqs Media Collective, Goethe Institute, Delhi)

Poster display in public spaces - 2017

In 2017 I did a 5 month long project where I created a poster every month and displayed in public spaces. The posters are about claiming the public place as a woman. Each poster has a text in a statement form,of an assertion ,using body postures.
