Duration : ~40m approximately

off space 1.jpeg

This piece was a performative entry, engaging with the works of Dilip Chobisa at display at Gallery espace

My performance engages with Dilip Chobisa's works as a point of entry to closely examine the role of architecture and 'home'. His works devoid of people became an area of reflection where my body in performance exhibits the stark distinctions of the lived reality placed around materials constituting as important memorabilia or even spaces lived and forgotten or lost.
The performance expands on our everyday lives that take place without any scope to rationally plan spaces but Chobisa's art works as a site designed to hold experiences was a welcoming space.

Displacement – a sense of being adrift in a world that constantly asks us to conform and adapt. In a world dominated by multiple identities and experiences, women often find themselves grappling with a sense of constant displacement. This feeling of being uprooted from our true selves and societal expectations can be overwhelming. Trying to navigate one’s journey while grappling with societal stereotypes and gender biases.
The performance attempts to understand the essence of what it means to live a life
constantly in flux. A weaving of a tapestry of one’s shared journey and find meaning in the midst of
chaos.

This work is about a kidnapping that happened somewhere in Punjab. In between the honour and the killing is the kidnapping. What entitles a family to commit such an act? What leads to the act?
